Learn MoreStructured care
Care can move between these options as your needs change. Treatment frequency is agreed with you and reviewed; not everyone needs every stage.
Start with what is most troublesome now. The initial aim is to ease discomfort and, where relevant, muscle guarding so daily activities feel more manageable.
As symptoms change, review movement, function and the activities you want to return to. Adapt care to your progress and goals.
Some people with recurring symptoms choose periodic support. Others finish after short-term care. Any ongoing appointments depend on a continuing need and your preferences.
When an established problem returns or worsens, reassess what has changed and adapt care where appropriate. This does not automatically mean restarting a set course of treatment.
Treatments
Your appointment starts with an assessment. Rory explains which approaches may suit your symptoms, goals and preferences, and you decide together before treatment.
Fine, sterile single-use needles, selected according to your assessment, comfort and goals.
Pressure applied to selected points and related areas, adjusted to your comfort and used where appropriate.
A needling technique that may be used for relevant muscle presentations, where appropriate.
Electrical stimulation applied through acupuncture needles may be considered after checking suitability and discussing consent.
Suction applied with cups where suitable. Temporary skin marks can occur; suitability and risks are discussed first.
A smooth-edged tool applied to the skin with controlled pressure. Comfort, skin health and marking risks guide its use.
Warming stimulation using processed mugwort, considered selectively after discussing heat, skin and respiratory risks.
Simple movement, mobility or Qigong exercises where appropriate, supporting self-management between appointments.
Externally applied liniments, oils, balms or patches may be discussed as an adjunct to treatment or home care.
